Matsue Guide…In English
English Guide to Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, JapanTop
Welcome to Matsue Guide!
Nov 2012: We do our best to keep this page updated, however, work commitments are currently preventing us from updating this as regularly as we should.
If you want regular updates from Matsue, we recommend this wonderful blog “Made in Matsue”.
http://madeinmatsue.wordpress.com/
It is updated frequently and gives an interesting insight into Matsue life.
We update the Visit Shimane facebook page (fairly) regularly – posting and sharing photos of the local area.

Of course, if you have any questions for us about Matsue or Shimane, feel free to ask on the Ask a Question page. We will do our best to help you!
About us
We are a team of translators based in Matsue. Despite Matsue’s status as only one of three International Cultural & Sightseeing Cities in Japan (the others being Kyoto and Nara), visitors from overseas find very little English here, especially in shops and restaurants. Through this guide we aim to introduce as many places in Matsue as we can in English, and hopefully make your stay in this charming city known as the City of Water and the Land of the Gods a pleasant and stress free one!
We hope you enjoy our Matsue Guide!

Hi there
I am thinking of visiting Matsue in October and would appreciate a guide with a car to take me and my husband to the key sites.
Can you help?
Thank you
Hello and thank you for your comment! There is a very good volunteer guide group here in Matsue called the ‘Goodwill Guides’. Ususally they guide on foot, but I’m sure one of the guides would be able to help you. If you contact us nearer the time we can put you in touch with the group. (They are very friendly and all speak wonderful English!) If we can help with anything else let us know! Best regards, Heather
