Welcome to our guide to Matsue City in Shimane Prefecture, Japan.

We are ‘I Talk You Talk’, a Japanese – English translation/foreign language consultancy based in Matsue. Despite Matsue’s status as only one of three International Cultural & Sightseeing Cities in Japan (the others being Kyoto and Nara), visitors from overseas find very little English here, especially in shops and restaurants. Through this guide we aim to introduce as many places in Matsue as we can in English, and hopefully make your stay in this charming city known as the City of Water and the Land of the Gods a pleasant and stress free one!

If you have any comments regarding our Guide to Matsue or any questions about Matsue City, or would like to contact us, please use the ‘Ask a Question’ page.

We hope you enjoy our Matsue Guide!

Hi there
I am thinking of visiting Matsue in October and would appreciate a guide with a car to take me and my husband to the key sites.
Can you help?
Thank you

Hello and thank you for your comment! There is a very good volunteer guide group here in Matsue called the ‘Goodwill Guides’. Ususally they guide on foot, but I’m sure one of the guides would be able to help you. If you contact us nearer the time we can put you in touch with the group. (They are very friendly and all speak wonderful English!) If we can help with anything else let us know! Best regards, Heather
